Tour Status #
Check here for Pride of Maui tour updates when severe weather, ocean conditions, or other travel disruptions may affect operations from Māʻalaea Harbor.
When weather or ocean conditions affect our schedule, we post important updates here and contact affected guests directly using the information on their reservation.
If you have a question about a same-day departure, call Pride of Maui at (808) 242-0955.
If You Already Have a Tour Booked #
Unless you hear from us, plan to arrive for your tour as scheduled.
Weather around Maui can vary considerably from one part of the island to another, and conditions on the water can change throughout the day. A storm elsewhere in the state or a rainy forecast for part of Maui does not automatically mean tours from Māʻalaea Harbor will be canceled.
When conditions are questionable, our captains make the final call using the conditions we’re seeing at the harbor and on the water.
If we need to cancel or make a significant change to your tour, we’ll contact you using the information on your reservation.
How We Handle Changing Weather #
Ocean safety comes first, but not every change in the weather requires a cancellation.
Depending on conditions, our captains may adjust the day’s route, choose a different snorkel location, change the timing of a stop, or use a more sheltered area.
In some cases, the safest choice is to delay or cancel a tour.
You can read more about how those decisions are made in What Happens If the Weather Changes?
Planning a Maui Trip During Severe Weather #
It’s understandable to have questions when a storm affecting Hawaiʻi is in the news.
One thing to keep in mind is that conditions can be very different from island to island, and even from one part of Maui to another. We recommend checking current information rather than assuming that a statewide weather headline reflects what is happening at your hotel or at Māʻalaea Harbor.
For broader travel and weather information, good sources include:
- National Weather Service Honolulu
- Central Pacific Hurricane Center
- Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority
- Maui County

When Everything Is Operating Normally #
Most of the time, there won’t be a major weather event affecting Maui.
We keep this page available year-round so guests have one place to check when questions come up about storms, ocean conditions, travel disruptions, or Pride of Maui tour operations.
During an active weather event, a Weather Update will be added at the top of this page as needed.
Have a Question About Your Reservation? #
If you’re already booked and aren’t sure whether weather may affect your tour, check your email and phone for messages from Pride of Maui.
If you haven’t received a cancellation or schedule-change notice, your tour is still scheduled to operate.
You can also contact Pride of Maui if you need help with an upcoming reservation.
