Maui’s reefs are teeming with a variety of colorful and interesting fish, and coral, including over 250 species of marine animals—many endemic to the Hawaiian islands. Visiting two separate destinations unique in their ways provides a completely fulfilling experience culminating with our most popular adventure.

If we have not called you, please show up at the harbor with expectations to go out, even if it is raining or windy. In the event that the conditions are unsafe to operate, you will be given the option to reschedule or cancel for a full refund. All of our destinations are weather permitting. She is extremely stable and we make Molokini the vast majority of all morning trips and about half the time in the afternoon.
Will I become seasick?
At 65 feet in length and a beam (width) in excess of 30 feet, our very large (Maui’s largest), multi-hulled power catamaran offers unsurpassed stability and comfort. Why doesn’t it go to Molokini?
It is typically much windier in the afternoon, making the snorkeling out at Molokini less enjoyable, and borderline unsafe. It is pretty rare to see any boats out there after noon. So, we usually try to hide from the wind using the West Maui Mountains and snorkel at Turtle Town, Coral Gardens or Olowalu, though we do try to make Molokini if conditions permit.

With Pride of Maui, SNUBA is offered during morning snorkel tours. The duration of a SNUBA experience is generally 20-25 minutes, depending on the guest. SNUBA is an activity available per snorkel location as an add-on to a regular snorkel booking (per person). Contact our reservations department at 808-242-0955 for more information about SNUBA with Pride of Maui.
Does SNUBA hurt your ears?
First of all, SNUBA is not like scuba diving. It’s more like snorkeling but with more support. The most common cause of ear pain when swimming or snorkeling occurs when the ears are not equalized before entering the water. Equalizing is when you block your nostrils and blow to open your ears (“popping” your ears), the same action taken right before a plane lands. If you have a concern about ear pain and ocean activities, please make sure to visit your general doctor to be signed off before booking any ocean activity.
How deep can you dive with SNUBA?
On a Pride of Maui SNUBA adventure, guests can dive to a depth of 15 feet. The SNUBA tank is attached to a raft on the ocean surface and connected to a long hose that always remains with you.

Our #1 priority is safety on all Pride of Maui boat tours. Read more about SNUBA and snorkeling safety.
Can you get the bends from SNUBA?
There’s a minimal chance that a person can get the bends, also known as decompression sickness (DCS), from SNUBA diving. Unlike scuba, guests cannot reach a depth further than 15 feet with SNUBA. As a general recommendation, guests should refrain from taking helicopter tours, driving to Haleakala, or taking an airplane 4-6 hours before or after SNUBA.
What is the difference between scuba and SNUBA diving?
There are many differences between scuba and SNUBA diving, although SNUBA is like a hybrid of snorkeling and scuba. With SNUBA, guests do not need certification; they can only go 15 feet deep. What is SNUBA?
SNUBA is the safest and easiest way to experience the exhilaration of breathing underwater for about 20 minutes in the care of our expert instructors. In doing SNUBA, how do you breathe and is it difficult?
You breathe through a mouthpiece called a regulator. As you begin to inhale a comfortable flow of air is provided from a compressed air cylinder located in the raft. The most difficult thing to remember is that you will be breathing through your mouth and not your nose.
What SNUBA equipment do I wear?
You will be wearing a pair of fins, a mask, a weight belt (to neutralize your buoyancy in the water) and a SNUBA harness which connects your air-line to the raft on the surface.
