What Is the Onboard Experience Like During a Pride of Maui Snorkel Tour?

1 min read

The onboard experience during a Pride of Maui snorkel tour is designed to feel structured, calm, and supportive, even for first-time snorkelers. The day follows a clear flow, with crew guidance at each stage so guests always know what to expect.

Boarding and Welcome #

Once guests arrive and check in, boarding begins at the harbor.

After boarding:

  • Crew members welcome guests aboard
  • Seating areas and amenities are introduced
  • Personal belongings can be stowed securely

This is a relaxed time to get settled before departure.

Safety and Snorkeling Briefing #

Before arriving at the snorkel destination, the crew provides a thorough briefing.

This typically includes:

  • An overview of the day’s plan
  • Snorkeling instructions and hand signals
  • Safety guidelines and expectations
  • How to enter and exit the water

The briefing is designed for all experience levels and allows time for questions.

The captain conducts a snorkeling 101 class for anyone who wishes to attend, with instructions for first-timers or those who want a refresher.

Gearing Up #

Before snorkeling begins, guests are assisted with gear.

Crew members help with:

  • Selecting the correct fin size
  • Adjusting masks for a proper seal
  • Fitting snorkel vests or flotation devices if desired

No one is rushed, and guests can take their time getting comfortable.

Snorkeling Time #

Once snorkeling begins:

  • Guests may enter the water at their own pace
  • Crew members remain in the water and onboard for support
  • Guests can snorkel, float, or stay near the boat

Snorkeling is optional at all times. Guests are welcome to take breaks or return onboard whenever needed.

Relaxing Between Snorkel Sessions #

Between water time, guests often:

  • Rest in shaded seating
  • Enjoy refreshments or meals
  • Warm up or rehydrate
  • Watch marine life from the deck

Many guests choose to snorkel in short intervals rather than continuously.

Crew Support Throughout the Tour #

Crew members remain available throughout the experience to:

  • Answer questions
  • Assist with gear
  • Provide guidance and reassurance
  • Monitor conditions and guest comfort

The goal is a steady, well-paced experience rather than a rushed one.

Returning to Harbor #

After snorkeling concludes:

  • Gear is collected
  • Guests can relax during the return trip
  • The crew assists with disembarking at the harbor

The return is typically a calm wind-down period after time in the water.

A Clear, Comfortable Flow #

From boarding to return, the onboard experience is intentionally structured to support a wide range of comfort levels. Guests can participate fully, take breaks, or simply enjoy being on the water.
