What Happens During Check-In?

2 min read

Check-in is a simple, guided process designed to get everyone ready to board comfortably and on time. When you arrive at Māʻalaea Harbor, crew members and check-in staff are there to help you through each step.

Knowing what to expect ahead of time can make the experience feel relaxed and straightforward.

Step 1: Arrive and Locate the Check-In Area #

After parking and walking toward the harbor docks, look for the designated Pride of Maui check-in area. Staff members are typically nearby to help direct guests if needed.

If you arrive early, you may wait briefly until check-in opens for your tour.

Step 2: Confirm Your Reservation #

At check-in, staff will:

  • Confirm your booking
  • Check your name against the guest list
  • Review any important tour details

Having your confirmation email available, either on your phone or printed, can make this step quicker.

Step 3: Review Safety and Tour Information #

Before boarding, guests receive key information such as:

  • Boarding instructions
  • General safety guidance
  • What to expect during the tour

This is also a good time to ask any last-minute questions you may have.

Step 4: Gear and Preparation #

Depending on your tour, check-in or onboard preparation may include:

  • Confirming snorkel gear sizing
  • Answering questions about flotation options
  • Reviewing basic snorkeling or safety procedures

Crew members are available to help ensure everything feels comfortable before you board.

Step 5: Boarding the Vessel #

Once check-in is complete and boarding begins:

  • Guests are guided to the vessel
  • Crew members assist with boarding as needed
  • Seating and storage guidance is provided onboard

Boarding typically happens shortly before the scheduled departure time.

Important Things to Know About Check-In #

  • Check-in closes before departure. Arriving late may result in missing the tour.
  • All guests must complete check-in before boarding.
  • If you have accessibility needs or concerns, let the crew know during check-in so they can assist.

A Smooth Start to Your Tour #

Check-in is designed to be efficient and supportive, helping the tour start on time and setting expectations for the day ahead. Once boarding is complete, the crew takes over and guides you through the rest of the experience.
